You should be sending a nice big FU letter to city admin and a to send a letter to the city council explaining why your not coming. These citys are so used to sticking there hands out and no one tells them NO. Some quick math will tell them how much they're going to loose becuase they got greedy and wante more. I attended last year and had a great time, won some swag, have a few cold ones. You are dead on right about keeping the cops and city out of it. It would never be the same, no spontaineous burnout competitions, no real deals on parts from vendors, no reasonable food.
